[fast5] Reporting in

Hello, all --

I started Fast 5 (again) on October 15th and as of today, my 30th consecutive day, I have not once eaten outside my window -- and it hasn't been hard.

I know there is an adjustment period which some people report as being tough. I have had maybe one or two days in which I felt hungry before I intended to open my window.  On those days, I began eating around 1:30 instead of later. (I find if I drink very little or nothing during the day, it's easier to fast too -- sometimes if I'm drinking a diet soda, it makes me hungry, so it's easier to skip them outside my window.)

And the more I do this, the farther into the day I can go without eating. Today my son and I went to a very special local event, a Civil War re-enactment that brings people from many different states. There was food everywhere.

I wasn't the least bit hungry, even though I did get food for my son, and we sat down while he ate. I not only didn't mind, I wasn't the slightest bit tempted. And we didn't leave till after 3:00, after walking around the entire day. I didn't eat at all until 4, and I felt fine.

In fact, the last couple of days, because of a work project, I've been not eating until 5 pm or later -- and it does not bother me at all. I'm also finding that the later my window opens, the less I want to bother eating after having one meal. Last night I had one helping of spaghetti with marinara sauce and a lollipop my younger son gave me, and that was all I needed or wanted.

The scale reads about 5 pounds lighter than my starting weight, which makes me wonder whether I'm doing something wrong. Shouldn't I lose more than this in a 30-day period, esp. at the beginning of a program?

I'll admit I'm probably the worst junk-food junkie on this list, and I'm sure my food choices have not helped. I know others on the list did low carb or Atkins or other programs in conjunction with Fast-5 -- I've been thinking about doing the Belly Fat Cure program along with this.

I'm concerned, though, because it seems if I'm losing at all, it's VERY slow, and I"m wondering if there's anything else I can do to help myself. I have been exercising (just got back to it this week), and I'm open to other suggestions, if you have them.

Thanks for all the inspiration!

Susan
