Re: [fast5] Re: New with a question

I agree that exercise helps greatly in suppressing appetite, as does drinking liquids.  Note that I use the word "appetite", rather than "hunger", because I believe that a big part of becoming a long-term adherent of this eating style is understanding that what we typically experience in the developed world simply isn't hunger as traditionally understood.  Rather it's a conditioned response - partly psychological, partly physiological - to our expectation of receiving food on a certain schedule.  Mostly, what we feel as "hunger" in the modern world has virtually nothing to do with our work capacity or ability to survive and flourish.

It takes time and some commitment to re-learn our responses to the body's signals, and for these signals to re-calibrate so as to be less insistent, but believe me it does happen if you stick with it.  The payoff is well worth it.

As Tamara says, I also sometimes get hungry early but if I ignore it or have some green tea or black coffee it gives up and goes away and then I'm not hungry at 5pm so usually start eating later than that. I do find if I just have something light when I break my fast that I am then ravenously hungry so find it better to break my fast with a proper meal. Took me a while to suss this and lots of shoveling snacks down and then being too full for my supper! It is a bit of trial and error to find what suits you best.

Good luck
