Actually her book is even better than the site.
Re glucometer: unfortunately there is no simple answer. they are all allowed a rather wide margin of error. Read Jenny's blog . this may take you to the post. If not it is dated July 20

Everybody says something different. Dr. B thinks Accu check Aviva, Jenny likes her one touch Ultra, on the Bernstein group many people swear by some others .. there must be about 10 different brands thatpeople prefer. Consumer reports says one touch ultra. followed by Accu chek At some point Jenny even recommend just getting one of the less expensive kinds with cheaper strips if you are just going to use it for a few times to see where your numbers are. But personally I tried a less expensive one and the numbers were inconsistant when I tested two or even three times in a row.
ha! reading this you might think why bother? But even with the disparity you can get and idea of what is going on no matter which one you use. Especially if you want to see how you respond to a high carb meal by testing before and at one hour intervals.
Sorry to not have a simple answer.
Ellen
Thanks! I did have some time when you originally shared. Have a bit more time now.
You are right; it is an amazing site and it sheds more recent light on Bernstein's thinking. Makes it more clear and precise; love the links ('cept it takes more time to follow them!!).
Still looking for their suggestion on which glucometer to purchase.
