De Vie
Because I found instant and lasting relief from my constant overeating by eating high fat and low carb, obviously that is the wisdom I would impart to anyone who finds themselves overeating.
I simply cannot overeat on meat and fat, my body just won't let me. Yet when I ate refined carbs, I could literally eat all day without stopping (biscuits, pastry, chocolate, bread, pasta, etc).
In those days it would have been impossible to contemplate a 19-hour fast. Now my body does it naturally much of the time, without my having to "force" it.
Just my 2p worth

So I am seeking guidance in terms of... how to do Fast-5 effectively
without (a) feeling like I'm restricting (which seems like setting myself up
for a rebel-reaction), (b) over-compensating in the eating, and (c) quitting
after three weeks! From the book it did seem like there is something
particular about three-or-so weeks, and I feel like perhaps I have to
somehow get over that hump......
