Ooh Heather you have reminded me of another thing: we have no idea how

I believe it said they tested them at the beginning to see how many calories they ate, over a fortnight??  Also they couldn't have been overeating that much as they deliberately chose people who were not terribly overweight but had a more or less normal BM!.

I found this study fascinating. There's been loads of well documented research into calorie restriction and increased longevity in rodents but as they say, it's much more difficult with humans and, ethical considerations notwithsatnding, who could conduct an experiment over 125 years? :-)

I think you also have to figure in the fact that people interested enough to participate in this study are probably going to be more interested in their diet and health than a lot of the population. I wonder if that leads them, on a CR diet, to end up making better food choices, the way most of us seem to do on Fast5.

I too, would love to see the protein, fat, carb ratio's of their diets because I agree, everyone is so different. I too, low carbed for years. I tried Atkins when I needed a real push but mostly followed the Heller's CALP.  I lost a lot of weight on that and felt a lot better but used to sort of go down and then back up.

On Fast5, I've lost all the weight and now find I can handle carbs better. I still have a problem with sugary stuff and all grains (funnily enough, I've just had a food intolerance test which showed positives for gluten, wheat, rye, rice and oats) but I can handle fruits and starchy veg.

I just feel lucky to have found a way that totally works for me and even though, I definitely don't want to lose any more weight (I vary between about 112 -115) I'm really happy to stick with fast5

Cheers
