Re: [fast5] A couple of things...

I use to do that with black strap molasses back in the '70s.  I forget what book I got that from, but I used it as a detox back then, much in the same way that people use the lemonade detox today.  It worked really well...and you're right...It has a lot of minerals that are very good for us in it. But, instead of ACV I used lemon juice. Also, in the olden days...people use to take black strap molasses for iron deficiency. You can taste the iron in it.

Hey all-

My computer crashed so I'm without a computer at home for a few days so I have to peck in what I can at work...

First thing I wanted to say here today is that I read in Newsweek magazine that the US Commander in charge of the war in Afghanistan (Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal) only eats one meal a day! He says if he eats more often he feels sluggish. ;) Here's a snippet from Newsweek:

"McChrystal, 55, is a purebred warrior, the son of a two-star general, West Point class of '76, a former commander of the elite Rangers Regiment, and, from 2003 to 2008, the head of hunter-killer black ops in Special Operations. He eats one meal a day, works out obsessively every morning at 5, and is so free of body fat that he looks gaunt."

HOORAH!!

Second, I ran into a little recipe for a tonic that uses 2tsp blackstrap molasses and 2tsp apple cider vinegar stirred into 8-oz of water. The molasses has lots of good calcium, iron, and vitamins. The ACV helps keep your body on the alkaline side of things. Well, I decided to try the blackstrap molasses and the apple cider vinegar in my berry and greens smoothie. WoW! The ACV gives it more tart tanginess, and the molasses sweetens and smooths it out. Might be something to try for those looking for a little something different to shake up their day to day recipes.
