Konjac does appear to help people with blood sugar problems. For one thing, it causes food to digest more slowly (and more thoroughly), so the starches and sugars in a meal don't get quickly dumped into your bloodstream. It also normalizes intestinal bacteria, which keeps the gut happier. I started taking it to treat GERD and some ulcers I had (it worked) and to help me digest starches.
Anyway, I wrote a fair bit about it on my blog, if you want to read more.
High ferritin levels are also implicated in blood sugar problems (I wrote about that too). But you can't know your ferritin levels without a blood test. Donating blood appears to help T2 diabetics though:
Ellen has a lot more experience in all this than I have though. My blood sugar levels are pretty good (and have gotten better doing Fast-5). My issue was that my blood sugar would *drop* after meals, probably because I wasn't digesting starches properly. Like Ellen says: getting a glucometer is a great idea. Then you will KNOW if what you are doing is working or not. The finger poke these days is really, really minor.

this is really interesting to me personally. i think i'm one of those people who stores most of my fat in my belly and who may be heading down the road (if i'm not already there) towards having an insulin resistance problem.i'm determined to stick with fast5. but i also want to know if (besides diet and exercise) there are any little, simple changes that i could make that would make a huge impact? for example, heather is always mentioning that she takes konjac powder. would konjac powder help this condition? if not, are there any foods and/or supplements that would really help with this type of problem??
